Where should I exchange money?

 

There are many good places to exchange U.S. money for Mexican pesos.Ê It is a good idea to have a few on hand when you arrive in Mexico so you may want to exchange some money at a local bank before you leave for Mexico. Other places to exchange your money are:

 

• At an ATM.Ê There are a number of ATMs available that you may withdraw money directly from your account and receive the cash in pesos.Ê The printed statement will usually show the exchange rate.Ê This is nice especially if you need cash for extras and did not bring quite enough with you.Ê ATMs are located in many locations including:
• The airport in Cancun
• The shopping center in Playa del Carmen
• The Reef Club across the street from the condo
• Many local banks in the Playa del Carmen shopping district
• Many tourist spots
• Some larger shopping store like the Chedraui store

 

• Local Banks will many times have exchange services at the teller windows.
• Hotels and resorts
• It is also good to note that many places will take U.S. currency and they will usually display their exchange rate.
