Can I drink the water?

Currently Playa del Carmen does not have a treated water system like we are accustomed to in the U.S.Ê However, when you are at the condo there is always bottled drinking water available.Ê Bottled water is delivered on demand in 5 gallon bottles.Ê Be careful to make ice only with bottled water, not the tap water, and use bottled water when brushing your teeth.Ê It is always better to be safe than risk spoiling any of your vacation.

When dining out make sure the ice is made from purified water (agua purificada).Ê Many times you can tell if the ice is made from purified water because the ice usually looks like tubes about an inch long and an inch in diameter.Ê Donât rely just on the way the ice looks though, be sure and ask.
